LOOP – ~ 61 MILES

RIDERS – MURRAY, DAVID, JOHN

1ST RIDE WITH MY NEW HELMET CAM. LITTLE BIT OF A LEARNING CURVE , I’LL HAVE TO LEARN EDITING SOFTWARE AND MARILYN IS THRILLED  I WATCH MYSELF ON THE PC AFTER RIDING ALL DAY.

DSCF2441 DSCF2442

AFTERMATH OF DROWNING MY BIKE AT THE NEW MIDDLE FORK CROSSING.

I WAS IN LEAD, IT DIDN’T LOOK THAT DEEP OR CHALLENGING. THERE IS A BIG ROCK YOU CAN’T SEE. THE FRONT TIRE ROLLED OFF UP TO THE FENDER THEN THE REAR TIRE HUNG UP. I HIGH SIDED, COULD HEAR A BLOOP, BLOOP  , BLOOP  AS WATER FILLED MY BIKE.

A NEW BEAVER DAM HAS ALREADY RAISED THE WATER LEVEL. MURRAY PULLED IT OUT.

MURRAY AND DAVID JUMPED IN DISASSEMBLING MY BIKE. AFTER A BIT WE GOT IT RUNNING.

JUST AS WE WERE GETTING READY TO LEAVE THREE RIDERS CAME FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION. I TOLD THE LEAD RIDER ABOUT THE ROCK AND DROWNING MY BIKE. HE PROCEED THRU THE CROSSING AND DROPPED HIS BIKE ON THE ROCK !

FINALLY WE GOT ON OUR WAY AND PROCEEDED TO THE NF LIME CREEK.

~45 mins after getting the bike running, I hi-sided near the end of NF Lime Creek.

There was a rock behind the bush that shoved me right off the trail. Took me another 45 mins to get the bike on the trail. Took forever to get footing on the side hill and the right angle to lift the bike above my head. I had to jerk & lift to get the bike up right.

FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH DAVID AND MURRAY ( I THINK THEY WENT THRU ALL THEIR SMOKES ). ENTERTAINED  THEM WITH MY EPISODE.

AFTER A BRIEF REST FOR ME , WE RODE THE ROAD TO PRESIDENT AND HEADED BACK DOWN TO THE MIDDLE FORK.

DSCF2443

MY CHASE CREW  , WHO WAS IN FRONT MOST OF THE RIDE.

AFTER LUNCH WE TOOK THE MIDDLE FORK=> BREMNER => SOUTH FORK=> HOLE IN THE WALL

NO CONCUSSIONS OR EMERGENCY BOWEL MOVEMENTS ON THE TRAIL, SO IT WAS A GREAT RIDE !

JUST BEEN GRADED,  WONDER WHAT IS ON TOP ?

DSCF2424

STOPPED IN AT THE FAIRFIELD RANGER STATION TO DOUBLE CHECK SEASONAL TRAIL CLOSURES. WE’RE IN GOOD SHAPE FOR THE LAZY BUTT. ALSO FOUND OUT THE NEW SINGLE TRACK – GARDNER GULCH – IS OPEN SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO CROSS THE SF BOISE RIVER AT THE END OF BEAVER CREEK !.

MY FAVORITE RANGER STATION !  PROBABLY THE MOST DIRT BIKE FRIENDLY IN THE COUNTRY !

BARRY “ I CAN CHANGE THAT !  I’M NOT HAPPY UNTIL YOUR NOT HAPPY.”

GOLD FORK RIVER CROSSING.

I PARTED WAYS SOON AFTER THIS SINCE I NEEDED TO GET BACK FOR DINNER WITH MARILYN.

AT GOLD FORK LOOKOUT I MET 4 RIDERS FROM HAWAII .  THEY KEEP A STASH OF BIKES IN KETCHUM.

THEY SEIZED ONE BIKE A DAY OR TWO BEFORE. OIL PLUG WORKED LOOSE.

TOLD THEM THEY SHOULD BACK TRACK AND DO THE LOOP COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO AVOID THE CLIMB THRU THE SWITCHBACKS.

THEY ALSO HAD QUESTIONS ABOUT BEAR PETE-LOON LAKE AND TRIALS AROUND STANLEY.
