1ST RIDE WITH SCOTT SINCE THE LAZY BUTT.
MONDAY MORNING HE CALLED AN SAID HE NEEDED A FEW TO PUT ON A NEW REAR TIRE HE FOUND IN HIS SHOP.
WHEN I GOT THERE HE WAS MOUNTING THE WHEEL ON THE BIKE. I ASKED HIM IF HE HAS GAS. SCOTT THOUGHT HE HAD ENOUGH FOR THE RIDE.
WE PARKED AT RABBIT CREEK. FIRST TIME IN A COUPLE OF YEARS. AS WE RODE OUT IT WAS OBVIOUS THE BLM IS ON A JIHAD TO CLOSE AS MANY SINGLE TRACKS AS THEY CAN. WHEN EVER I SEE A CLOSED SIGN I HAVE AN UNCONTROLLABLE URGE TO RIDE IT. THEY EVEN HAD CLOSED SIGNS ON WASHES !
ENDED UP RIDING ABOUT 55 MILES.
ABOUT “?” MILES OUT I NOTICED MY TRIP COMPUTER WASN’T WORKING. DID A QUICK ONCE OVER BUT DIDN’T FIND ANYTHING OBVIOUS LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRES.
SCOTT AND I HAD OUR TYPICAL DISCUSSION OF WHERE WE WERE AND WHERE WE WERE HEADED.
HOWEVER THIS TIME HE WAS RIGHT AND TOOK ME ON A NETWORK OF JEEP TRAILS I DON’T THINK I’VE BEEN ON.
JEEP TRAIL BELOW WHISKEY HILL.
WE MET A COUPLE OF “OLD GUYS” AT THE “TIDDY BAR”.
WE MADE IT UP THRU THE SNOW AND MUD TO THE TOP OF THE RIDGE.
DROPPING BACK DOWN TO THE DESERT
AS WE WENT THRU THE GATE ABOVE DIAMOND BASIN I NOTICED SCOTT WAS ALMOST OUT OF GAS.
HAD PLANNED TO RIDE SINKER CREEK AND THE OTHER SIDE. WE FOUND A NICE GULLY WHERE COULD TRANSFER SOME LOW TECH 2S GAS TO THE HITECH FUEL INJECTED 4S !
WE MODIFIED OUR ROUTE AND MADE OUR WAY BACK TO THE TRUCK.
