MOUNTAIN SEASON HAS ARRIVED !
SATURDAY I JOINED THE TVTMA WORK DAY FOR BLACKS CREEK.
I WORKED WITH A CREW ON TRAIL 302. WE HAD 2-3X THE MANPOWER NEEDED SO IT WENT FAST.
MOST OF WORK WAS DEVOTED PUTTING A CULVERT OVER A STREAM. SEEMS LIKE MAKE WORK BUT IT WINS POINTS WITH THE MOUNTAIN HOME RANGER DISTRICT. THEY HAVE BEEN RECEPTIVE ON TRAIL REQUESTS IN OTHER AREAS OF THE BOISE FORESTS.
DAVID WANTED TO RIDE SUNDAY SO I HEADED HOME SOON AS THE WORK WAS COMPLETE. ONLY GOT 8 MILES IN.
========================================================
SUNDAY DAVID & I RODE OUT OF THE WILLOW CREEK TRAIL HEAD. I HAD HOPES OF STAYING RIGHT ON DAVID’S TAIL, BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
WE DID 38 MILES IN ~3 HRS.
TEMPS WERE NICE. RODE IN WINDBREAKER ALL DAY.
TRAIL SIDE OPTIC REPAIRS. DAVID’S GLASSES NEEDED TIGHTENED UP.
VIEW FROM TRAIL 316 , ONE OF THE REMAINING SINGLE TRACKS OF ANY LENGTH.
SOON AFTER THIS I STALLED MY BIKE IN A CREEK CROSSING. DAVID FOUND A VENT HOSE KNOCKED OFF THE CARB. SOMETHING ELSE TO ADD TO THE PRE RIDE CHECK.
LUNCH STOP ON DEVILS HOLE.
I left 8th Street and the Boise front in 1986 and found Black's Creek and the Danskin Mountains. I never went back to the Boise Front except for the year of 1990 when I rode the front after work two nights a week for the entire summer. My last ride at Black's Creek was in 2005 with Wilky and I rode a borrowed bike.
