JOHN JOHNS EARTH DAY CELEBRATION RIDE 4 /22 /10

map topo

BLACKS CREEK WAS STILL CLOSED UNTIL SATURDAY. SNOW REPORT FOR IDAHO CITY DIDN’T SOUND PROMISING SO WE OPTED FOR MURPHY.

GAIA WAS GOOD TO US. TUESDAY’S RAIN HELPED THE TRACTION AND THE WIND CLEARED WHAT DUST THERE WAS. THE CLOUDS KEPT THE TEMPS DOWN & WE STILL WERE ABLE TO RIDE IN JERSEYS.

AS WE DROVE BACK HOME IT WAS OBVIOUS WE WOULD HAVE BEEN RAINED ON AT BLACKS CREEK AND IDAHO CITY.

WE DID A 40 MILE LOOP IN LITTLE OVER 2 HOURS. JOHN ONLY HAD 2 HOURS SLEEP AND HADN’T RIDDEN SINCE NEW YEARS EVE . SO I KEPT A PRETTY GOOD PACE FOR HIM TODAY. WE DID THE LOOP WE HAD PLANNED FOR 12/31/09.

BRIEF STOP IN SINKER CREEK.

CREEK WAS RUNNING HIGH & JOHN WASN’T TO KEEN ON A COUPLE OF DOZEN WATER CROSSINGS SO WE OPTED TO TAKE THE ROAD BACK ON TOP. GOOD CALL- THE CROSSINGS WE DID WERE DEEP ENOUGH.
