SUNDAY SPODE SHOW–MURPHY 2/27/11

MAP

TOPO

RIDERS – DAVID, MURRAY ,DENNIS , JOHN

LOOP – 35 MILES

DENNIS CAME  IN FROM OREGON TO PICK UP A BIKE FROM HIS STEP DAD.

AS WE GOT TO MURPHY WE WERE SURPRISED BY  THE LOW SNOW LEVELS AND AMOUNT OF SNOW AT THE WASH.

SLOW RIDE MOST OF THE DAY. KEPT A GEAR “HIGH” AND JUST OFF THE PILOT TO KEEP FROM SPINNING THE REAR TIRE.

THE RUTS WERE FREAKY, COULDN’T FIGURE OUT WHERE THE FRONT WHEEL WANTED TO GO.

LOOK CLOSE YOU MAY SEE THE DEER !

AFTER A BIT OF DISCUSSION WE DECIDED TO RIDE THE SLOT DOWN TO THE CREEK.

THE SLOT ON THE 250XC-W  !

AFTER WE A BIT OF INSPECTION WE DECIDED UPPER SINKER CREEK WAS RIDE-ABLE.

TURNED OUT TO BE NO BIG DEAL. I HAD A BIT OF TROUBLE ON THE NEW BIKE BEING TOO CAUTIOUS.  WORRIED ABOUT PLANTING THE FRONT WHEEL  AGAINST A ROCK OR IN A HOLE.

TOPO

TRAIL BOSS – JOHN

RIDERS- SCOTT, KEITH , DAVID

LOOP – 53 MILES

(my) AVG SPEED – 18 MPH

I TRIED COMBINING ROUTES FROM PREVIOUS RIDES. I DID OK, ONLY GOT CONFUSED A COUPLE OF TIMES.

LOTS OF TWO TRACKS, THE HIGH FLATS GET CONFUSING. HAD WAYPOINTS FROM PREVIOUS RIDES, BUT I NEED MY READING GLASSES TO SEE THE GPS. THERE IS PROBABLY A COUPLE MORE SINGLE TRACKS /WASHES TO BUILD INTO THE ROUTE.

SINGLE TRACK ACROSS THE HIGHWAY HAS BEEN OBLITERATED BY RE-SEEDING WORK.

WITHIN A MILE OF THE TRUCK I DROP THE BIKE IN A SANDWASH. DAMN TUMBLE WEEDS SPOOKED ME !

NICE SINGLE TRACK RUN ACROSS FLATS , ASH DEPOSIT.
