Loop – 76 mile ( a couple of wrong turns )

Trail Boss- Spode Daddy
Trail Consultant – Scott
Ride
rs – Chad , John

Uber Service – Spode Daddy

After two attempts at riding Meadow Creek  ( snow & down fall ),
I wanted to go back to cut it open.

 20170615_200604
I splurged and bought a Trail Tech mount . It’s designed for a Stihl 193 but
with a couple simple modifications  it works for the Stihl 201.

DSCF6003

All Two-Strokes !
Granite Creek was packed , mostly SxS’s . Only saw one other bike on the trails.

First ride ever with a front mounted saw. The saw was stable but started out using
more muscle until I relearned the balance and body english . Still need to figure
out the clickers for whoops .

Lower Meadow Creek had been completely cleared since we tried it last weekend .

Western Civilization is under appreciated in Western Culture …

RABBIT CREEK

Then cut 3-4 more on one of the Rabbit Creek legs , but left a large one for another day.
It was 4PM , I was tired and it looked like it would take over 30 minutes .

Finally stopped for “lunch” ~ 5 PM.

Clocked over 76 miles + one tank fill on the saw without hitting reserve.

More impressive is the old fat spode kept a 16mph pace carrying the saw.

Trudy’s for Lunch | Prairie => Idaho City 6/7/2017

map

Loop ~ 168 miles
Prairie> MF Boise > Alexander Flats > Barber Flats> Rabbit Creek> Idaho City

I thought about trying to get up Trinity Mountain from Featherville but decided
on a shorter ride to get back into town before it got too hot.

Middle Fork of the Boise
Both the Middle Fork and North Fork are running much cleaner , last week
they looked like chocolate milk .

Alexander Flats

I was making good time up FSR 376 then just below the summit
I got on the wrong side of rain rut, thought I could ride across it
but ended up in it.  Tried to roll backwards to the start but it was
too deep and narrow.
Tried riding out  but didn’t have the skill to get the Karoo3 to climb out.
Had to drag the rear out then lift the bike back up –MOTHERFUCKER .

Just as I was getting back on the bike a full size Ford 4X4 pulls up .
Another 5-10 minutes we could of walked the bike out of the rut .

I  stopped at the wide spot at the top to rest and tell the guy he won’t make
it across the Baber Flat bridge it’s redistricted to 50” by concreate barriers .
They were a  “young” hippie couple .
He pulls out a tape measure to check his truck, 80” !
I pull out the Benchmark to show him how to get to Idaho City.
He told me they were going to “smoke’ before they head back down , wanted to know
if I wanted to join them . I passed , too bad I didn’t have  Barry  ,”The Interceptor “.

He tells me they got turned around on Roaring River , got past where I did
then hit a drift that had no end. Glad I changed today’s route .

Got to Trudy’s about 2 PM . They have AC now !

Had a fried egg & bacon sandwich with 4 glasses of Ice Tea.

Just past the Cherry Creek campsite the road is closed.
A few miles up the road there is a large washout . I decided
to turn around and use my time visiting Magic .

Willow Creek cut a lot of new channels.
I think it will be another ~6 weeks before the snow banks
are gone .

into Owyhee Reservoir.

Breakfast at the The Bowling Alley

I thought I knew how to connect to the Tunnel Road off of HWY201 ,
but we still would have to cross peoples yards to connect.

We rode back to Succor Creek and took the Power line road .

The last mile of the descent into the canyon was steep and cobbley .
I found I had more control dead engine coasting , probably
because the ABS was disabled .

Found some shade at Snively Hot Springs .
I managed to loose my reading glasses.

As we traveled through the canyon the bike showed the temperatures at 95F !
The canyon was also littered with dead cattle , probably winter kill from the storms .

In Vale I bought another pair of reading glasses then we dropped in next door
for a cold beer .
