DAVID AND I WENT TO GRANDVIEW.  WE PARKED AT MISSLE BASE ROAD*OREANA CUTOFF. THE WEATHER LOOKED IFY AS WE DROVE DOWN, BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE A GREAT DAY- 1ST SPRING RIDE FOR 2011.

MURPHY 2/13/11 ( I COULD HAVE BEEN IN EGYPT CHUNK’N ROCKS )

THIS WEEK IT WAS KEITH'S TURN TO INSPECT THE DIRT, SAYS IT’S IN GOOD SHAPE !

AFTER WE A BIT OF INSPECTION WE DECIDED UPPER SINKER CREEK WAS RIDE-ABLE.

TURNED OUT TO BE NO BIG DEAL. I HAD A BIT OF TROUBLE ON THE NEW BIKE BEING TOO CAUTIOUS.  WORRIED ABOUT PLANTING THE FRONT WHEEL  AGAINST A ROCK OR IN A HOLE.

BLACKS CREEK RESOURCE INSPECTION 3/24/11

 

DAKOTA AND  I DROVE OUT BLACKS CREEK ROAD TO CHECK OUT THE TRAIL HEADS

TURNED OUT TO BE A GAL AND GIRL ON HORSE BACK. I ASKED IF THEY WERE DOING TRAIL WORK.

THE GAL SAID NO, THEY WERE TRAVELING CROSS COUNTRY. STARTED  NEAR CHALLIS , WINTERED DOWN BY BRUNEAU . DECIDED THEY WERE HEADING TO A LOWER ELEVATION FROM HERE.

EXCEPT FOR THE TATTOOS THE GAL REMINDED ME OF STEVE BYRNES .

RIDERS- DAVID JOHN

NATIONAL HARE & HOUND WAS RUN  ON SUNDAY, THE COURSE COVERED FROM HEMINGWAY TO FOSSIL CREEK,  IT WAS WINDY ( GUSTS 40-50 MPH ),WARM WEATHER CREATED HIGH RUN OFF: 1ST TIME I SAW WATER IN SOME OF THE WASHES & SINKER WAS TOO HIGH TO RIDE.

DIRT WAS GREAT  BUT BEING LIMITED ON WHAT WE COULD RIDE ( WANTED TO STAY OFF THE COURSE ) AND TIRED OF MURPHY WE STILL HAD AN OK RIDE.

 

FALLING DOWN IS THE #1 CAUSE OF INJURY FOR SENIOR SPODES

DAVID AND I “EXPLORED” THE FOOTHILLS OUT SIDE BIRCH CREEK.

LOOP ~48 MPH / 17.5 MPH AVG  TOO MANY WOOPS & DEEP SAND.

THE STEP UPS CHALLENGED ME AGAIN.  JUST NEED A LITTLE MORE “MO”, A BIT MORE THROTTLE CONTROL & MY TRIALS TIRE. ALSO NEED TO GET TO MY RACING WEIGHT .
