WARM SPRINGS TRAIL SYSTEM ( KETCHUM / HAILEY )

LOOP ~ 65 MILES

RIDERS – DAVID , JOHN

PARKED AT CHERRY CREEK ON THE FAIRFIELD SIDE.  RODE THRU DITTO FLATS TO THE BACK TRAIL INTO THE SYSTEM.

MY SECRET PLACE. NICE TRAIL THAT DOESN’T SEE THAT MUCH TRAFFIC

DSCF2855

POISON FLATS

DEAR CREEK IS A ROCKY TRAIL , SOMEWHAT TECHNICAL BUT NOT TOUGH CLIMBS OR LEDGES ….

I NOTICED MY HEAD LIGHT WAS ON. WHEN I WENT TO TURN THEM OFF , THE SWITCH TWISTED ON THE HANDLE BARS.    STARTED FIDDLING AROUND WITH THE SWITCH ON A NICE EASY PART OF TRAIL, LOOKED UP AND RODE OFF.

I WASN’T FAR OFF THE TRAIL, BUT WHEN I LIFTED THE BIKE IT STARTED SLIDING DOWN. DECIDED THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION WOULD  BE TO SIDE HILL TO FIND A BETTER PLACE TO GET ON THE TRAIL.  WASN’T THAT EASY. AS I WAS STRUGGLING WITH THE BIKE I HEARD ANOTHER BIKE COMING. AS HE WAS PASSING I SHOUTED, HE HEARD ME AND STOPPED !!!

WE ATTACHED MY TOW STRAP TO THE FRONT FORK. JUSTIN TUGGED AND I WALKED THE BIKE BACK UP THE TRAIL.

DSCF2856

YOU MEET THE NICEST PEOPLE ON A HONDA !   JUSTIN TATE MY NEW BEST FRIEND.  JUSTIN WAS RIDING BY HIMSELF.

TEACHES BODY SHOP AT WEBER STATE. GREW UP IN THE BURLY AREA .

SOON AFTER WE GOT GOING WE MET DAVID WHO WAS HEADED BACK TO FIND ME. AFTER A BIT OF A STRUGGLE WE GOT DAVID TURNED AROUND. DAVID WENT TO PUT HIS LEFT FOOT DOWN TO KICK START HIS BIKE AND HIGH SIDED.  HE TUMBLED OFF THE TRAIL BUT WAS ABLE TO PUSH HIS BIKE OVER ON TO THE TRAIL !

IF THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH , I MANAGED TO HIGH SIDE FARTHER DOWN THE TRAIL WHEN I CLIPPED AN INSIDE ROCK.

I WAS HOT AND TIRED , NO CONFIDENCE.  AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION AT ATE MY LUNCH AND RESTED. WE MET ANOTHER RIDER RIDING SOLO. HE WAS FROM ALPINE, WY. HE HAD A PASS WHILE HIS WIFE WAS AT A HORSE EVENT IN BELLEVUE.

DSCF2857 Stitch

INTERSECTION OF GREEN HORN AND MAHONEY . EVERYTHING IS STILL GREEN AND LOTS OF FLOWERS. THE TALL GRASS MADE YOU WORRY ABOUT A CLIPPING A HIDDEN ROCK OR STUMP.

FINISHED UP THE DAY AT THE WRANGLER – CHEESE BURGER , HOMEMADE ONION RINGS , 5 GLASSES OF ICE TEA.
