Jon and I rode Eagle’s Nest Saturday. Jon was my chaser. He did a damn good job for his 1st ride of the year.
Loop ~ 46 miles.
The morning was smoky but a bit better than Donnelly or McCall. Jon said the valley was much worst.
We got on the trail ~ 10:30. ( Barry didn’t see or here us so I’m not sure it counted .)
About 5 miles into the ride I couldn’t keep up with Jon or stay on the trail. Finally noticed I had a rear flat.
I got the tire off and tube out but couldn’t find the puncture. Jon came back to find me. At first he couldn’t find it either. Tried water , no luck. Then pumped up the tube and we could hear and feel the leak, a very small prick !
Eagle’s Nest after the flat.
Scare crow to keep the greenies off the trail.
We went past the Gold Fork Rocks to Dollar Ridge Trail.
On the way down I took another spill for no reason then a hundred yards latter Jon saw that I had flat again. We were about half way down the switch backs with no good place to work on the flat. We used Jon’s MTB pump to inflate the tube so I could get to the bottom , you can’t ride a trials tire flat the sidewalls are to soft. It was another slow leak and I made it down & across the creek.
While I was replacing the tube Jon found another small leak in the tube I pulled out. We checked the tire again but still didn’t feel any thing. Maybe the tube is worn out , it has close to 1500 miles on it.
Climb up to Gold Fork LO
Jon after his climb up to the look out. The climb is a bike boiler and it’s the easy way up from the Gold Fork River.
