MORE FUN THAN A WEINER SHOULD HAVE ! LITTLE SMOKEY CAMPOUT 6/ 4 & 5 / 2011

DAVID AND KAREN DELAYED THEIR MEMORIAL CAMPOUT A WEEK SO I WAS ABLE TO JOIN THEM FOR AT LEAST ONE NIGHT. THEY LEFT TOWN THURSDAY. MY PLAN WAS TO MEET THEM SATURDAY MORNING. DAVE GAVE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO GET TO “LITTLE SMOKEY” , IF THEY WEREN’T THERE THEY WOULD BE AT CANYON CG ON BIG SMOKEY. FOR SOME REASON I HAD PICTURED “LITTLE SMOKEY” BEING NEAR THE DOLLAR HIDE ROAD INTERSECTION. AFTER A FEW TRIPS DOWN TO THE BIG SMOKEY GUARD STATION AND UP & DOWN DOLLAR HIDE ROAD I FINALLY FOUND THEM JUST BEFORE NOON.

THE CARRIE CREEK TO BIG PEAK TRAIL WAS SWEET BUT SHORT.

OUR 1ST SINGLE TRACK OF THE DAY

BOTH BIG PEAK AND LICK CREEK WERE BLOCKED BY SNOW BANKS.

WE HEADED BACK DOWN THE ROAD AND EXPLORED A COUPLE OF MINING ROADS / SITES.
