GRANDVIEW TMP COMMENTS 4/19/2017

Dear Sirs ,

I'm 63 , a 36 year resident of Idaho and have been off road motorcycling for 17 years.
I trail ride for recreation with friends and family. The canyons , washes and trails of the
Grand View area offer hundreds of miles of riding. The area has relatively low density of motorized use .

I prefer Alternative D with these additional trails added :

GVX1287
GVX1280
GVX1295
GVX1204
GVX1129
GVX1127
GVX1124

As you can see from the attached GPX files these trails are used to complete loops.
Note :
1) many of these trails a designated ATV/UTV when in fact they are single track
2) Even Alt D which is presented as "recreation" friendly closes 50% of the trails and is unacceptable.
While not an presented  as an option my overall  preference is all trails remain open  and parking/camping remain undeveloped .

Regards,

John Aiton

Clarence’s Big Boy Birthday Ride–Grand View 4/15/2017

Trail Boss – Spode Daddy
Riders       - Paul, Clarence , Eric

Loop – 60 miles , I clocked a 20 mph avg which isn’t bad for an old fat guy.

We met at the Albertson parking lot to load up. Paul bought a sandwich at
Subway to pack for lunch and scored a~ 2lb bag of cookies !

We had breakfast at the Y-Bar, good food and sassy a cook.

I blew a turn riding across the flats , missed the big hill climb and crossed
The Oreana Cutoff  father south than I expected.
However , the guy’s got to see the Dr Seuss cliffs off Birch Creek.

It’s been a while since I approached the Waterfall cliffs from the South.
Didn’t recognize the trails or features but I found it !.

Clarence on a nice piece of single track.

HogPen has been washed since February.
The bottom near ranch had all the tracks erased . There were a couple
of new slides and the big one is easier to cross now. The sand is just as deep.

Sage Grouse Roundup–Jacks Creek 4/2/2017

The BLM wants to close most these trails under the current TMP proposal
to “protect Sage Grouse habitat” . They didn’t even inventory the trails
in spite of users and IPR providing GPX tracks multiple times over the years.

I never have seen Sage Grouse out here but I’m sure the BLM thinks
that supports the closure .

Loop ~ 56 miles ( still had a half tank left !)

Started out trying to ride JimBob's loop  to Horse Hill but got confused so
doubled back to the truck . It would have been an 80 mile day if we had
added the leg.

Hole in the Rock -

The BLM installed a useless but expensive fence in front of the petroglyphs.

Government turns good people into F-Tards .
